Certificate of Regulated General Insurance
The Certificate of Regulated General Insurance - CeRGI - is an exam administered by the ifs School of Finance which acts as an introduction to the general insurance market.
Although it is not a required exam under FSA training and competence requirements it is a useful way for firms to demonstrate market knowledge when considering the competent employee rule. It is also a useful approach to exposing new entrants to the wider general insurance arena. It is also probably more accessible than the CII FIT test and more relevant than the Lloyds and London Market Introductory Test for the average candidate nationwide.
Sitting the CeRGI exam
CeRGI is a 100 question multiple choice test with a 70% pass mark which can be taken at one of the 150 or so Pearson Vue testing centres in the UK. The test can be booked at your own convenience with approximately 7 to 14 day's notice. The results are provided instantly and higher scores generate passes with merit (80%) and distinction (90%).
The registration price covers a training text, a limited amount of on-line support from the ifs and one attempt at the exam provided it is taken within 12 months. Re-sits require an additional fee.
